These people also have the responsibility of following up on the patient in order to ensure that these patients recover completely from the effects of sedation. Certified nurse midwives have the role of helping mothers through the process of giving birth as well as giving advice to mothers on how to take good care of the new born babies. They have advanced knowledge that enables them to deal with various complications that occur during pregnancy although their scope of work is only limited to normal deliveries (Chism, 2013).
