A Comparison between Two Possible Methods for Water Provision in South Essay
A Comparison between Two Possible Methods for Water Provision in South East, Queensland, Australia - Essay ExampleColvin unveils that rainfall see in South-East Queensland has been significantly below average for the other(prenominal) six years, and this has marked the ten year history of severe water shortage in this part of Australia. The situation of water shortage in Australia has led to steaming debate in the political and public spectrum as blames are exchanged to politicians for impuissance to establish appropriate policies to ensure water security in the South-East Queensland. A portion of blame is also exchanged to the citizens who are perceived to mistreat the water, and the potential drought seasons. Showing regard and concern about water shortage experienced in the South- East Queensland, this report is purposed to identify and propose both possible methods of supplying water in the arid areas of the South-East Queens land in Australia. The report will also analyze t he cost effects of the two methods identified and propose the convenient method to be adopted first and the one to be adopted in the process as the authentic supply underway. The two methods that shall be addressed by this report will include water recycling and rainwater collect. Background The problem of water shortage in the South-East Queensland in Australia dates back about 100 years with the worst historical drought periods was lapsing between 1898 and 1903 (Colvin). However, 1974 offered slight compensation to the past periods of drought as the year experienced historic rains that led to yet historic floods that have never been experienced again in the region. According to Radcliffe (4), the statics of 2003 screening water provision depicted that about 414000ml was used in residential gardens, 183000ml used in laundry, kitchen used 61000ml, and bathroom consumed 317000ml. The 2003 statistics also indicate that the total passel of water consumed in residential was 1219000 , industries and businesses consumed 437000ml, local government and its fire-fighters consumer total volume of 139000ml, system losses amounted to 221000ml as errors in client meters amounted to 49000ml (Radcliffe 4). Importance of the Requirements Rainwater harvesting mainly involves accrual of rain water that falls on the roofs and surfaces of structure and tapping that water into fund tanks for future use. Rainwater harvesting could also involve collection of the surface runoffs that forms on the ground and directing such water into storage dams and other water reservoirs for future use in irrigation or in households for modify items. When such scarce water is collected in the arid areas, it is usually considered as precious element and will be used with great direction (Pigram, 2006, p. 145). Harvesting rainwater has been considered to be of lower cost since the process only requires one to have an iron roofed house of structure and water storage tanks, which are usually obt ained at cheaper prices. Collection of rainwater is also environmental friendly since water collected reduces flooding, which might break sewerage lines and result to unsanitary environment. Rainwater also has gained massive public recognition and acceptance as one of the best means of obtaining fresh water that is rich in graphic mineral elements that are good for health. Water recycling simply means to reuse all ready used and contaminated water but after undergoing series of treatment and safety guaranteed for particular use. The sources of recyclable water include sewerages, municipal wastewaters and grey water among other sources of used waters. Recycling water is a friendly undertake to the environmental safety and sanity. Recycling water helps in reducing contaminations and loads of nutrients that may be hazardous to the

In this way, the firm could most certainly benefit from a recalibration of the mission statement and vision that it currently displays (Zara 2011). Although it is heartening to see the that the firm pays such a great deal of attention to the environment and environmental concerns, completely ignoring the role and splendour that the customer plays with relation to the business model is perhaps shortsighted. Description of the career you considered and why you found it attractive. Choose one describe what academic degrees, business experience, linguistic communication learnings etc that you will need to be successful. After reviewing the great diversity of careers that are available to the individual interested in a career in marketing, I was particularly drawn to a career in public relations. Public relations and market outreach is a field that interests me because it goes beyond merely marketing a product and directly incorporates elements of social interaction and company representation. In such a way, the individual who works within such a career is last responsible for seeking to challenge public opinion and represent the firm/organization in time of difficulties and in times of success. Ultimately, it is the challenge of such a position that is attractive due to the fact that many individuals employed in public relations type marketing jobs have had the distinct ability to basically alter the means by which the public views the firm and the ultimate product or service offerings they represent (Laskin 2012). Such is not the norm however besides it is a possibility fo r the individual that works in such a field. With respect to the particular type of skills and knowledge that is required for such a job, the website that was study to inform his report stated that a degree in good standing from a four year university or college was ultimately a requirement. Furthermore, although there was no experience requirement for beginning within such a career, ultimately representing the firm to the public would be something that would most certainly require very much experience as well as supreme command of verbal and written skills and exceptionally high quality people skills. Q3) What kinds of jobs are available, where are the jobs available, what types of skill sets are required for international marketing jobs For the most part, the types of marketing jobs that were represented were entry level with the remainder being upper level management positions. As such, there were very few offerings for individuals within the middle of their career with a reas onable modicum of experience. However, by considering the case of Salomon v A Salomon & Co Ltd 1897 AC 22, the concept of veil of incorporation can be understood in a clear manner. In coitus to the case, Salomon had a leather boot business and acquired the maximum share by incorporating a company (Palma, 1897). A few days later, the company suffered from financial crisis and thereof a th ird party named Mr. Broderip decided to provide a loan to the company. The amount realised from liquidation was allocated to Mr. Salomon and thus Mr. Broderip was to be repaid. However, after repaying him, it was found that a minimal amount is left to be distributed amid the unsecured creditors and the external shareholders. The Court of Appeal was in favour of the liquidators but the House of Lords argued that Mr. Salomon was not responsible in person even though he was the sole owner of the company (Palma, 1897).There lay certain practical consequences of separate lawful personality. They tend to lose their money in case the company fails to repay their amounts. Thus, if a shareholder dies, his/her share is transferred to someone else, but the business still continues to conduct its activities. A company may be closed only if the partne rs of a company

Policy Issues in Mental Health Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
Policy Issues in Mental Health - Essay caseOne such issue is the mental needs of baby boomers. This is because this generation of the American population offers a Unique challenge to the American medical administration, in that the system is not adequately prepared to address the mental health needs of this demographic. This can, however, be remedied with the appropriate policy implementation to ensure that Medicare is in a position to adequately contain the mental health needs of the baby boomer generation. This is because the members of these demographic are likely to suffer from mental problems like low leading to suicides, as they advance in age (MedlinePlus, 2009). Although mental health is being recognized as a health problem in America, the Medicare system needs policy implementations, ad hoc the needs of the baby boomer generations mental health needs. Background After the WW2, The demographic of the American population that comprised of young adults had a symbolic signif icance to the population as the face of optimism and the nations driving force. In the modern times, however, as this generation has advanced age wise, at that place has been growing concerns concerning their health. This is because there are fears that the health care system is inadequate to handle the mental needs of this generation, to ensure they live healthily. The society has been slow to recognize mental health as an illness, and this has made the field lag behind as compared to the other areas in mainstream healthcare. This shortfall has been made apparent by the challenges in mental healthcare for the baby boomers. The healthcare policies that contrive been introduced recently have highlighted the shortage in terms of carte providers of geriatric mental health cases. Statistics on the issue smooth by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) depicted an increase in the suicide rates by 20%, among the age demographic of surrounded by 45 to 54 years, in the per iod between 1999 and 2005 (Conger, 2009). Though exploration into the matter has not yielded a definite cause for this increase, the most logical hypothesis has been cited as being due to the depression affecting this demographic. Use of prescription drugs and hormone replacements to counter menopause have been proposed as possible causes (Chopvisky, 2011). Other experts have varied citing it simply portrayed the natural receding of the population numbers. White Women have a slightly higher increase than their male compatriots, with a encounter of 3.9 percent increase being recorded. The increase in suicide rates was also evident across the board with minority groups also recording an upwards trend in suicide cases. The complexity of the health needs with relation to their mental wellbeing is made critical by the actuality that this demographic comprises of 78 gazillion individuals. The gravity of the situation is further reiterated with the fact that 10 million baby boomer are likely to suffer from Alzheimer cases. There are also indications that cases of aberration have a strong prevalence among the group (Kapes, 2006). The society has tried to ensure that this generation lives comfortably, and there have been initiatives concerning this in various areas including social protective cover and geriatric care, but there has been a shortcoming in

Urbanization increases Essay Example for Free
Urbanization increases EssayGolf courses also use fertilizers and chemicals in watering and maintaining the area which also contribute to the contamination of water. According to 1FAOs come close of changes of set area cover in developing countries, the worlds forest area had significantly decreased during the period of 1980 to 1995 largely brought almost by development and the demands of urbanization. The developing countries fool contributed to the natural forests as very much as 25%, an average of 12% in Latin America, 5% in Asia and 8% in Africa (FAO, 1997). It has to be stressed that the figures correspond to only 15 years span. Gornitz and colleagues also found that vegetation clearing accounts for a one percent diminution of annual stream flow and an average of 10% decrease in the annual volume of freshwater used by humans (Gornitz et. al, 1997 page 148). The near direct physical impact of urbanization to the interruption of the water cycle is the general increase i n the impervious cover (IC). The increase in IC due to urbanization affects the water cycle in these ways1. Urbanization increases impermeable land covers such as sidewalks, roads, roofs and parking lots. These urban structures decrease the measuring stick of water to be absorbed by the soil as infiltration process is hardly realistic to occur in these areas. In highly modify areas, more half of the volume of rainwater flows as run-off (Center for Watershed Protection, 2003). Studies also reveal that in cases where impervious cover is less than 10%, streams to where run-off flows remain protected. On the other hand, if IC is above 10% run-off that goes to the streams will cause the ecosystem to be degraded (American Society of Civil Engineers, 1996). Center for Watershed Protection said nearly of the evidences of this damage are bank erosions, sedimentation and the loss of stream bank tree covers. 2. Urbanization significantly increases annual floods. As infiltration and transpi ration is reduced much of the surface precipitation is diverted to the drainage system. In a pre-urban setting, precipitation is intercepted by the natural vegetation through the process of absorption. Ground cover and forest canopy naturally absorbs rainfall through their roots. The wider the ground cover and the denser the forest canopy, infiltration and transpiration of precipitation are held in its natural state as more water is stored in the water table. This way water storage deep down into the ground as reservoir. With the clearing of vegetation and deforestation, urbanization becomes directly unresistant for the increase in annual floods.Because of the increase in the volume of run-off water in highly urbanized areas, the construction of drainage systems have been the nearest possible solution made by the government. Such drainage systems were designed to regulate the flow of run-off directly to the watercourse. However localized flash flooding seemed aggravated the problem with the construction of such sewage systems. The problem with this development projects is that the volume that watercourse and the drainage systems can contain is limited. The speed or velocity of runoff brought about by high peak storm water. Another vital factor is time which is relatively not enough for water to be absorbed and contained by the drainage systems and so flash floods are always possible. With flash floods, water contamination is highly possible because the excess water that runs in the streets catches much of the contaminants in the land surface which will then be carried to the bodies of water as flood find its way to leave the area.Because highly urbanized areas do have little ground cover like trees to absorb storm water, run off will likely stay longer in the surface as infiltration is hardly possible. Because imperviousness is directly related to water dynamics, highly urbanized areas have the high risk of containing high peak storm discharges. In urban areas , collection in combined sewerage systems may impose increased hydraulic and pollutant loads on conventional wastewater treatment facilities (Perry and McIntyre 1986).

The narration of the cosmos Essay Example for Free
The narration of the cosmos EssayThe happy days take aside when the author was hardly three years old. At the age of sixty, as a news columnist, the nostalgic days show his own style of stimulated impact. His narration of the cosmos as a child sitting in mothers lap makes the reader younger by years. His vivid memories become freely and end up just before his teenage. The way his youthful eyes captured all incidents dating back to his third birthday leave us spell bound. His schooldays of learning give an insight of the rural delights of summer homes even though old and ruined, appear elegant through his eyes. His grandfathers death gave him joy to stay away from school. His fascination for police officers, food, literature and athletics sounds interesting. Many references to political exposition of his era appeared in contrast to the modernity. throughout the memoirs, the author has described the actual growth of Baltimore and especially how the mobs of civil commotion were t reated as superior professionals. His arguments with the acquaintance of his father, a French businessman is value reading with a touch of practical jokes and imaginative comedy tones. His depiction of his Aunt Sophie and her attire would project a lavish ancient fabric to be visualized. His lavish languishing through the pages of first steps in divinity, record of an athlete, career of philosopher, has stamped his boldness. His good vernacular no doubt made him a reputed columnist afterwards in his career. All through the pages of his book, his voice remains a chronicle of his childhood days and proves to be a readers delight and especially for those who travel subjugate memory lane. References H. L.
